Strep A & Scarlet Fever
  • Strep A is a bacteria that can cause infections. The vast vast majority of these infections are mild and can be treated with antibiotics at home.

  • In very rare cases the infections can become serious and may require hospitalisation

  • The signs of Strep A can include: sore throat, fever, headache.

  • People should call 111 or their GP if they think their child has Strep A – but at the same time the GPs and 111 are really overwhelmed so people should call if they really think it’s strep. There are a lot of viruses going round which are not strep A
